In this homebrew competition we brew a classic style: IPA.
We chose to brew a narrowly defined beer style so we can judge it more objectively. This means that the style should fall into a category defined by the BJCP (Beer Judge Certification Program (bjcp.org))
Style: IPA
– 21A. American IPA
– 21B. Specialty IPA
- Specialty IPA: Belgian IPA
- Specialty IPA: Black IPA
- Specialty IPA: Brown IPA
- Specialty IPA: Red IPA
- Specialty IPA: Rye IPA
- Specialty IPA: White IPA
- Specialty IPA: Brut IPA
– 21C. Hazy IPA
– 12C. English IPA
– 22A. Double IPA
– X2. IPA Argenta
As an added bonus, categories from the 2023 Brewers Association guidelines are also allowed:
– New Zealand style IPA
– experimental IPA
You should enter your beer in one of these categories – and it will be judged as such.
I know this will come as a disappointment for those wanted to make an Imperial Pastry Peanutbutter BA Porter Milkshake, but these competitions are narrow to show off brewing skills and not creative skills
