After a 2 year absence the Foebar Secret Santa event is back!
If you are not sure what Secret Santa is, here are some details:
How does it work?
Our secret Santa is an anonymised mass home-brew swap. You enter x amount of (home-brewed) beers (or other ferments); and in return you will get the same amount of beers / other ferments. This means you will have a nice stash of beers to drink over the holidays and get to share yours with a group of fellow enthusiasts. Everyone wins!
We also have a competitive element which let’s you guess information about the beers and allows you to give feedback on the brew.
The rules:
1) Everyone can enter (you don’t need to be a regular to our group) – to sign up please fill in this form so we can establish the amount of participants.
2) You will be asked to drop off your homebrewed beer in bottle / can / growler – equal to the amount of participants that signed up.
3) Package your beers in a way that is unique but does not give away who it’s from or what kind of beer it is (no names, style, ABV, or other information). You can use special colour caps, make drawings, write letters on the cap.
4) We will collect all the beers at a central collection / pick-up point (to be decided). Drop off your beers in the first week of December and pick the beers up other participants’ beer in the week after.
5) Drink the beers in the Christmas period. We will send a feedback form to all participants that will let you guess the brewers, style, the ABV and give feedback.
6) We will have discuss all the beers and share our thoughts in a follow-up meeting. This meeting will most likely be our January meeting. If you guessed the most styles / ABV / Brewers correct you could be crowned our honorary Secret Santa!
PS.
It’s good practice to bring two extra bottles for those that are unable to brew or participate / to thank our host / to account for breaking bottles.
